TODDLERS LEVEL 1
AGE GROUP: 1.3 YEARS - 2.2 YEARS
NEW AND EXPERIENCED SWIMMERS
Young toddlers transitioning from Babies 3 and beginner toddlers
The first stage of the toddler swimming program, Toddlers Level 1, is designed for beginners aged 15 months to 2. years. In each lesson, different aims are introduced to promote coordination through simulated safety and swimming movements using building-block techniques. The program ensures that new toddlers are ready before progressing to gentle swims.
This group may have children who have moved up from the baby classes who are already happy and confident in the water, as well as children who are just beginning. With those coming from the baby program, progression continues. Beginner toddlers are gently encouraged to join in with the group. Children at this age are keen to interact and soon show interest in joining the activities.
The toddler lesson structure, is different to the babies’ one and normally more fast-paced than the baby classes. Toddlers are keen to do things on their own and this is encouraged, together with building better awareness of safely and risks. Group activities and songs continue to be used as tools to teach a variety of skills, both swimming and social and psychological. Toddler Level 1 also ensures that new swimmers are ready before progressing to gentle submersion
One parent per child is required in the water for babies, and toddlers.
